Coriander Seeds

Coriander, also known as Chinese parsley and referred to as cilantro when fresh, is an annual herb in the family Apiaceae. It is widely used in cuisines across the world, and the ground seeds have a unique lemony citrus flavour. Described as warm, nutty, spicy, and orange-flavoured, coriander seeds are vital in many spice blends, such as garam masala, and are often used in Indian curries, often with cumin. They are also widely used in pickling vegetables and making sausages, especially in Germany and South Africa. In Russia and Central Europe, coriander seeds are occasionally used in rye bread, such as Borodinsky bread, as an alternative to caraway. Additionally, coriander seeds are a key ingredient in some Belgian wheat beers.
