Coriander seeds

Coriander, also known as Chinese parsley and commonly called coriander when fresh, is an annual herb in the Apiaceae family. It is widely used in cuisines around the world, and the crushed seeds have a unique lemony citrus flavor. Described as warm, nutty, spicy, and orange-flavored, coriander seeds are important in many spice blends such as garam masala, and are often used in Indian curries, often with cumin. They are also widely used in pickling vegetables and in making sausages, especially in Germany and South Africa. In Russia and Central Europe, coriander seeds are sometimes used in rye bread, such as Borodinsky bread, as an alternative to cumin. In addition, coriander seeds are a key ingredient in some Belgian wheat beers.
